Lemmatization

concept · part of Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Lemmatization reduces a word to its dictionary form (lemma) using vocabulary and morphological analysis; it is context-aware (e.g., 'running' → 'run', 'bank' as noun vs verb). Stemming chops off endings using heuristics; faster but less precise (e.g., 'running' → 'run').
